Andrew Brooks was elected New Canaan’s Town Treasurer in 2013 and was re-elected in 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2021. He is seeking a sixth term in the 2023 municipal election.

A resident of New Canaan since 1994, Andrew attended New Canaan Public Schools and graduated from New Canaan High School, where he was an AP Scholar with Distinction and a member of the National Honor Society. Andrew earned his bachelor’s degree from Brandeis University where he double-majored in Economics and History and minored in International and Global Studies.

Following his graduation, Andrew joined AmeriCorps as a public school teacher before pursuing his career in the financial services industry. After completing his AmeriCorps service, Andrew was a senior management consultant with Deloitte’s banking and securities practice and later Accenture’s finance and risk strategy practice, and subsequently has worked in-house within the banking industry.

Over the years, Andrew has partnered with finance and risk management departments of many Fortune 500 financial institutions to implement new business processes, improve asset and liability management practices, enhance operational and financial risk management capabilities, and lead a variety of strategic initiatives. He continues to leverage his education and private sector experience to serve as a responsible steward of New Canaan’s tax dollars.

Early in his tenure as Town Treasurer, Andrew transformed the role from a ceremonial position into an active, independent treasury function, serving the interests of all residents by enhancing internal controls and significantly increasing investment income. New Canaanites of all political affiliations can continue to count on Andrew to ensure payments are properly authorized and tax dollars are optimally managed.

In addition to serving as Town Treasurer, Andrew has served as a Justice of the Peace since 2009 and is an active member of various organizations, including the Government Finance Officers Association, the Rotary Club of New Canaan, and the Ram Council Foundation (currently a board member and treasurer). He has also served as a member of the New Canaan Republican Town Committee, as a United Nations Representative of the Foundation for Post Conflict Development, and as a board member of the Omega Ensemble.

Andrew is honored to serve our community and is eager to earn your support once again on November 7th.
